Marie principally focuses on producing emergency maps, ensuring they are both accurate and visually pleasing. She also provides remote support for GIS teams and replenishes CartONG’s map center and other repositories. Marie likes patterns. Her day-to-day work concentrating on maps, charting relationships and discovering and mastering new techniques in the constantly evolving field of GIS keeps her stimulated and gives her purpose and her life order. With an eye for design and skilled at visualising data and graphs, Marie makes CartONG look better when she is not enjoying badminton and DIY activities.
Background: Marie pursued a geography degree and applied cartography and GIS tools towards a specialization in sustainable development and spatial dynamics in developing countries. She started at CartONG on an internship in 2013 and joined the staff as a cartographer in 2015 after taking a brief detour to work on GPS navigation.
