discuss the current and future stakes of the sector,
introduce relevant and innovative solutions,
and share experiences and best practices.

Across sectors of activities, we have been hearing for almost two decades now a recurring maxim: “data is the new oil”. How to best manage data has also become a central question in the aid sector, that has followed the trend of becoming data-driven.

The GeOnG forum 2022 took place at the Centre de Congrès Le Manège, in Chambéry (331 rue de la République, 73000 Chambéry). Remote participation was also possible.
Topics and sessions
The GeOnG forum is 3 days of conferences and workshops from October 24 to 26. On the program: exchange of mapping practices, debates on humanitarian issues. Topics covered:
Information sobriety, data minimization, low tech and green tech
Information and localization: autonomization, empowerment, participation
Information Management and its role to reveal or better respond to the environmental crisis
Collaboration and more sustainable and resilient systems
The types of sessions included:
Speed Geeking – 15 minutes repeated, presentation of one idea and time for feedback in a sit-down meeting
Round table – 1h30, professional and experts discussing on key topics with Q&A
Lightning Talk – 5 minutes, short presentation on a tool or project
Workshop – 1h30, training sessions
Fail Fest – 15 minutes, plenary presentation celebrating failure as a mark of leadership
