For convenience, we have chosen to compile on this page the terms & conditions related to the CartONG website – on which you are currently browsing – and the Learning Corner. By accessing and/or using this website accessible at https://www.cartong.org/en (hereinafter “the website”) or the Learning Corner accessible at  www.cartong.pages.gitlab.cartong.org/learning-corner/en/landing (hereinafter “the Learning Corner”), any user accepts, tacitly and without reservation, the conditions of use of the website and the Learning Corner detailed below. These two platforms are also referred to collectively below as “the CartONG communication platforms”.

The communication platforms are published by CartONG, represented by its President.

CartONG’s website was created using WordPress and is hosted by Datacampus – Technopole du Futuroscope – 86360 Chasseneuil Futuroscope. The Learning Corner was created using GitLab and is hosted by OVH – 2 rue Kellermann – 59100 Roubaix – France.

In general, users – i.e. “you” (see below) – are prohibited from using all or part of the website, blog and Learning Corner for purposes that are illegal or contrary to these terms of use. The site, accessible via the url cartong.org, is operated in compliance with French law. Use of this site is governed by the present terms and conditions. By using the site, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted these conditions. They may be modified at any time without notice. CartONG cannot be held responsible in any way for misuse of the service.

All content on this site, including but not limited to graphics, images, texts, videos, animations, sounds, logos, gifs and icons, as well as their layout, are the exclusive property of CartONG, with the exception of trademarks, logos or content belonging to other partner companies or authors.

In accordance with the French Intellectual Property Code and, more generally, international treaties and agreements containing provisions relating to the protection of copyright, you may not reproduce for any purpose other than private, but also sell, distribute, issue, broadcast, adapt, modify, publish or communicate in whole or in part, in any form whatsoever, the data, presentation or organization of CartONG communication platforms without prior written consent from CartONG. This representation or reproduction, by any means whatsoever, constitutes an infringement punishable by articles L.3335-2 et seq. of the French Intellectual Property Code. Failure to comply with this prohibition constitutes an infringement which may incur the civil and criminal liability of the infringer.

In addition, the owners of copied content may take legal action against you. CartONG is identically the owner of the “rights of producers of databases” referred to in Book III, Title IV, of the Intellectual Property Code (law no. 98-536 of July 1, 1998) relating to copyright and databases.

You are allowed to quote from the CartONG communication platforms provided that the origin of the document or page (e. g. “excerpt from CartONG’s site”), the title of the document or page quoted, the name of the author and the date of publication of the document or page, if known, are clearly indicated.

An exception applies to reports, studies, tutorials and any other publication made available on the CartONG communication platforms mentioning a CC-BY license. In which case, you are free to reuse the deliverable provided that you scrupulously abide by the rules applicable to the “creative commons” license chosen by CartONG and any partners who may have co-produced the publication. As CartONG is working towards building capacity within the humanitarian, development and social sectors, if you wish to re-use our resources that do not have a CC-BY license, do not hesitate to contact us via our form.

The creation and publication of a hypertext link towards one of the pages of the CartONG communication platforms is also authorized. Any use for commercial purposes is however prohibited.

In addition, the layout of this site has required the use of external sources for which we have acquired the rights or for which the rights of use are open: Concept / technical and functional specifications / design / layout / communication partnership: La Coopérative des Internets.

All data, information and publications accessible, represented or downloadable from the communication platforms are not exhaustive and are provided for information purposes only. CartONG is bound only by an obligation of means and cannot therefore incur any liability for errors, omissions or for the results that may be obtained by using this information.

At the same time, CartONG cannot under any circumstances be held liable for the content accessible via hypertext links published on communication platforms, or for files downloadable from the communication platforms, or for websites accessible via hypertext links published on the communication platforms. In addition, it should be noted that the use of hypertext links may lead you to other servers – servers over which CartONG has no control.

CartONG cannot guarantee the availability and permanent accessibility of its communication platforms, particularly for technical maintenance reasons. Likewise, it cannot be held responsible for the following malfunctions – the list being non-exhaustive: the incorrect transmission and/or reception of any data and/or information on the Internet, an external intrusion or the presence of computer viruses, the failure of any reception equipment or of communication lines, any other malfunction of the Internet network preventing the proper functioning of the CartONG communication platforms.

The present terms and conditions are governed by French law and any dispute or litigation that may arise from the interpretation or execution thereof shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts having jurisdiction over CartONG’s registered office. The language of reference for the settlement of any disputes is French.

By personal data, we mean any information that makes it possible to identify you either directly or indirectly, within the meaning of Article 4.1 of the GDPR. For a list of examples, visit the European Commission website here.

This page was last updated in March 2024. It was previously updated in December 2022 following the discontinuation of CartONG’s blog and in November 2021 following the launch of the Learning Corner.
