Location : CartONG is based in Chambéry but has a teleworking policy that the employee will be able to benefit from. A full-time teleworking from mainland France is therefore conceivable.
Salary : Based on salary scale and experience, 39-hour/week contract (35 h + 4 hours paid overtime/week). (see more)

Context & missions
The Communications Manager is part of the CartONG support team and works in close relation with the association’s project teams.
This position oversees the association’s external communications activities, preparing and implementing CartONG’s global communications strategy in support of the association’s multi-year strategy. He/she is also the Project Manager for CartONG’s communication and advocacy projects, in particular the GeOnG forum. He/she also acts as a reference on data protection issues for the communications function. Finally, this person supports CartONG’s communication projects. As part of this role, the Communications Manager is also expected to support the association’s networking and fundraising activities, by providing communications expertise to internal referents on these subjects.
The Communications Manager reports directly to the Executive Direction and supervises an intern for 4 to 6 months each year.
The missions
In this context, your main tasks are as follows:
1 – Manage CartONG’s external communications
Define and supervise the overall communications strategy
- Definition and monitoring of strategy and annual communication plans.
- Monitor communication budget.
Supervise and implement content production
- Writing and/or creation of communicationproducts: articles, annual report, flyers, etc.
- Production of visual/multimedia content (infographics, videos, etc.) promoting CartONG’s activities.
- Development, support and/or coordination of dissemination plans for project resources in coordination with and in support of Project Managers.
- Updating of the association’s website (bilingual) www.cartong.org
- Publication work on social networks (Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Youtube)
Contribute to the association’s visibility (awareness-raising, advocacy, knowledge development and networking)
- Coordination with media contacts.
- Representation of the association at events, within networks (e.g. H2H Network Communications Working Group, etc.) or others.
- Occasional support for the organization’s volunteer projects, particularly in the area of communications.
2 – Support for CartONG internal communications
- Coordination of internal exchanges of experience in support of the Head of Programs (lunchboxes, webinars).
- Coordination of CartONG’s internal newsletter.
3 – Support other CartONG activities (ad hoc)
- Participate in activities supporting CartONG’s associative mission where possible and relevant, and interact with the association’s Board and other members (notably during events such as associative weekends called “get-togethers”, team green days, internal training, etc.).
- The position may involve very occasional travel to partners’ offices in Europe or to conferences/events. The job requires availability and flexibility, with very occasional evening or weekend work.
Profile required
Education
5 years’ higher education in communications/events/marketing.
Previous experience
5 to 7 years’ professional experience is required, including at least 4 years’ experience in communications and events (including internships, fixed-term and open-ended contracts and international volunteer work); previous experience in Humanitarian Aid and International Development or in an associative environment is an asset.
Language skills
Bilingual in French and English. A very good level in both languages is required for this position.
Technical skills:
- Knowledge of community management and social media (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook & Youtube).
- Experience in writing content (articles, blog posts, annual reports, etc.) in French and English.
- Demonstrated ability to work with different groups and profiles (Board of Directors, executive team, senior managers, junior and/or technical teams, volunteers, etc.).
- Comfortable with web content editing (WordPress and Drupal in particular).
- Proficiency in dissemination tools (Mailchimp, MailerLite in particular).
- Very good command of the Office Pack (Word, PowerPoint & Publisher in particular, Excel an asset).
A real asset
- Strong command of DTP tools (Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, etc.).
- Video editing skills would be appreciated (Premiere Pro, Camtasia, etc.)
- Previous experience or a strong demonstrated interest in public relations, networking and/or fundraising would be an asset to this position due to the collaboration with these functions internally.

- Excellent writing skills and ability to summarize
- A curious mind and a “Swiss Army knife” attitude would be an asset in this position.
- Demonstrated interest in humanitarian work and new technologies is an asset
