Evaluation of the services in sites hosting internally displaced persons
About
Description
OPSMAP is a web application that provides humanitarian actors information on the state of services within the various sites hosting Internally Displaced Persons (IDP). Detailed site profiles visualized in a dashboard can be used to identify areas that require urgent action.
IDP sites are located in a wide range of contexts and types of operations. The level of information as well as the technique and methods of data collection therefore are often different. CartONG developed a tool easily and quickly deployable for any context even if the data structure and information collected are different. The structure and the architecture of the code of the application is hosted on a core repository on GitLab from where the team can easily create a repository for the requested operation.
Each site profile shows up-to-date information on the situation of the settlement, location, number of people, demographic distribution, management. It also provides figures on key indicators on availability of different services, health, security, education, food security, livelihoods, WASH, among others. An automatic report can also be generated and downloaded. Having access to these profiles allows humanitarian actors and camp management to have a clear view of the situation in each location and make informed decisions based on up-to-date indicators.
Throughout the years, CartONG has kept working on the application to improve its features, creating news OPSMAPs for new countries, maintain the system and the database and respond to the needs of UNHCR operations.
