CartONG is implementing with OpenStreetMap Madagascar a mission to support Secours Islamique France’s project Avotia (funded by the French Development Agency - AFD), around food security in the vulnerable Southwest Madagascar. The project includes :
The project suffered multiple delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic and has to be implemented in only 6 months. Its aim is therefore to both assess the needs of the organization, collect data in the field, produce maps that will be directly usable, and provide a first layer of awareness raising and training among SIF's team on participatory mapping and GIS. Given the timeframe, budget and existing capacities of the partner, the objective is not to build a full GIS system but to rely on open source teams and OpenStreetMap as a central database whenever it's possible.
