Do the benefits of emerging technologies truly outweigh the associated long-term social, human and environmental risks?
This roundtable looked into the use of certain emerging technologies including biometrics, mobile data, drones and more. Are these tools always used responsibly, in terms of respecting a rights-based approach and in terms of the environmental cost? What have we learned from some of the latest humanitarian situations, such as the Rohingya, Afghanistan and Ukrainian crises to predict or follow the displacements of population? Are we in a better place today to better understand when technology is the right solution (for efficiency, rapidity of access, etc.) and when its usage should be questioned by the sector?
Scheduled on Monday 24/10 from 2pm to 3:30pm (CEST)
