Sandra Sudhoff - Technical Director Originally a landscape planner and architect by training, Sandra came across GIS and Remote Sensing while working on her thesis in Mozambique for GIZ and got hooked on it ever since. Her first long mission to Uganda convinced her to stay. She now holds the combined position of Information Management Project Manager and Technical Director, leading CartONG’s team and ensuring that the NGO not only functions, stays on course and delivers high quality work, but also grows, seeks to develop new partnerships and continuously innovates. As Project Manager, she also supervises and implements MDC and IM collaborative projects for various partners. She is notably one of the 2 principal focal points for one of CartONG’s main partners, UNHCR - The UN Refugee Agency. Martin has been with CartONG since 2012, first joining the team to plan the third edition of the GeOnG Forum. Since then, Martin’s position has taken numerous turns: with a background in social science and aid sector management and policies, he was the first non-GIS person hired by CartONG, and he has played an essential role in developing HR, finance and administration processes but also helping structure the volunteer network and internal and external communication of CartONG. In 2016, he initiated the involvement of CartONG in the international mapping project Missing Maps and has since been an active advocate of OpenStreetMap and collaborative approaches both internally and externally. He now focuses on managing various participatory mapping and open data projects, with a strong interest in building partnerships in particular with field organizations, developing new projects and inventing new approaches. Martin enjoys working at CartONG both for the stimulating and rewarding environment and team, but also for the flexibility that allows him to be part-time for his other activities, in particular locally in Chambéry. Edmond Wach - Vice-President
Edmond joined the CartONG Board in June 2021. He has over 10 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, having worked mainly with operational NGOs (Solidarités International, Terre des hommes, etc.) both in the field and in headquarters, on issues of information management, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), capacity building and technical support. After many years as a volunteer and supporter of CartONG, Edmond joined the CartONG staff team as Project Manager and DPO in 2018 before leaving the organization at the end of 2020, to try a new, more local adventure. He now assists local authorities in Savoie with their IT issues. Edmond wanted to join the board to continue his associative commitment to CartONG in a new way. Lisa Daoud - Vice-President
Passionate about the organization and functioning of human societies, Lisa has been working for ten years in the humanitarian sector. Her experience in numerous crisis zones has taught her the very special role of data collection and management processes in understanding the social reality of the most disadvantaged people and in adapting public actions and aid policies. Lisa has a degree in political science and is an active member of various associations. She has been living in the Drôme Provençale for several years, where she is also an elected official in her town. Lisa discovered CartONG in 2014 as a volunteer for GeONG in Chambéry. Thereafter, she collaborated with the information management pole on many projects. She is joining the board in 2021 as vice-president to support the association in its strategic and governance choices. Contact: l_daoud [at] cartong [dot] org |

Nicolas Grosjean - Secretary Nicolas is an active volunteer of CartONG since the beginning of 2019, following his participation to a mapathon in Grenoble. He is very invested in participatory mapping and validation activities on OpenStreetMap as part of the Missing Maps project - for which he provides useful statistics to CartONG teams - and has, in the past, provided several translation supports (on web content, mobile data collection resources, etc.). A former board member said of him, "Someone who asks if he can help with note-taking, we have our future secretary!" And, what had to happen, happened. Since June 2021, Nicolas is officially the secretary of the CartONG Board. His rigor, stemming from his training in mathematics and computer science at ENSIMAG, allows him to keep a record of the Board's decisions and to ensure that the actions taken are in line with the organization's governance policies. Nicolas also plays a key role in welcoming new members. To do this, he relies on an approach he already applies daily in his job as a research engineer in Artificial Intelligence and as a department manager: he seeks to highlight the work of others and to make people learn from each other, in a friendly atmosphere. Patrick Fuchs - Treasurer
Due to his professional background, Patrick was contacted by a member of Board of CartONG in 2019 to encourage him to run for the position of Treasurer. Indeed, after studying economics (DEA, SCIENCES PO Paris) and management (IAE Paris), and starting his professional career in the banking and economic studies sector, Patrick resolutely opted for a career in business management (human resources, administration, finance, legal, etc.) which he practiced in various organizations including private companies and non-profit organizations. He retired in 2019, as Deputy Managing Director of an agricultural research organization, in charge of its management. His involvement in the associative sector as a volunteer in an organization helping refugees find work, and the values carried by CartONG led him to agree to run as candidate to the Board. Thus, after having informally advised the Board of CartONG for almost a year, Patrick was officially elected to the Board as Treasurer in June 2020. We are delighted to welcome him and to be able to benefit from his rich experience. Contact: p_fuchs [at] cartong [dot] org |

Jean-Paul Nicoletti - Conciliator Jean-Paul is a curious mind, always keen to explore and experiment with new tools and digital interfaces. Fascinated by the idea of using new technologies for social impact and humanitarian work, Jean-Paul joined CartONG as a volunteer in 2014, quickly rising to the position of elected Board member in 2015. Jean-Paul plays a very important role within the organization, acting as Conciliator for the Board and providing guidance and support to the Management team and any staff member seeking advice. Jean-Paul has also been extensively involved with the Missing Maps project in France, frequently participating in mapathons as well as actively contributing to OSM. Jean-Paul has had a long career in agricultural engineering, through which he has developed extensive knowledge in agronomy, economics, computer sciences and statistics. Thanks to his extensive professional and volunteering experience with CartONG, Jean-Paul has been able to provide advanced support to the organisation. This was notably the case during CartONG’s web-mapping CNLS project in 2017, at the occasion of which Jean-Paul gave a week mapping training in Madagascar. Laura Jonnard - Volunteer Life Coordinator Laura joined CartONG in 2016 by participating in mapathons organized as part of the Missing Maps Project. As a geographer and humanitarian trained at IRIS Sup', Laura has a particular interest in mapping, data management and emergency and development projects implementation in Africa. In parallel, she is working in Ouagadougou as a Donor Relations Officer for the ALIMA NGO and is developing her humanitarian organization, HERA, specialized in monitoring epidemics in Africa. In June 2021, Laura joined the CartONG Board as Volunteer Life Coordinator, to work in close collaboration with the Inclusive Projects & Volunteering Coordinator on the implementation and follow-up of volunteer projects and the implementation of the 2020-2023 Associative Life and Volunteer Involvement Strategy. Charlotte Pierrat - Member of the Board After five years as President of CartONG, Charlotte has chosen to step back in 2021 to focus more intensely on her duties as a city council member, while still remaining on the Board for a time. After several years of volunteer work, including coordinating the "Emergency Volunteer Mapping" initiative, Charlotte got the CartONG bug. She has a background in social sciences and public health, and began using GIS tools and methods as part of her thesis in geography to model the environmental factors affecting the spread of malaria. She brings to the association an in-depth knowledge of complex socio-economic dynamics and her experience in coordinating international projects, particularly within the academic sector and scientific cooperation. As a member of the 2021-2022 Board, she will continue to participate in strategic discussions regarding the development of the organization. Contact: c_pierrat [at] cartong [dot] org |
