CartONG continues its collaboration with Terre des hommes-Lausanne, notably in Burkina Faso, with a new mission of skills transfer in April 2015.
Thirteen (13) Burkina collaborators of Tdh were trained to the use of Mobile Data Collection to be able to follow the nutritional status of children in health centers of the Sourou province. ont ainsi été formés à l’utilisation d’une collecte de données mobile permettant de suivre le statut nutritionnel des enfants en lien avec les centres de santé de la province du Sourou. The head of monitoring and evaluation of Tdh was trained to manage current surveys but also to set one up on her own. The surveys were up to then collected on paper registers that were time-consuming to fill in but could also be less reliable as capture errors could occur. The enumerators of the Sourou province were therefore trained on mobile data collection on Open Data Kit that no longer needs an introduction.
It was also a great chance for a morning-long detour to meet the Open Street Map community of Burkina (and Benin!) during their barcamp in their new Ouagadougou premises and train them on QGIS at the invitation of the EOF project (Espace OpenStreetMap Francophone).
