
Founded in 1979, Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental organization that fights against hunger in the world. Its mission is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection and treatment of undernutrition, particularly during and after emergencies related to conflicts and natural disasters.
Today, Action Against Hunger is a major player in the fight against hunger in the world. Structured as an international network, the organization leads a coordinated response in nearly 50 countries. Its priority is to take concrete action in the field and bear witness to the plight of populations.
CartONG and Action contre la Faim have signed a partnership agreement of 3 years to further their collaboration. The partnership agreement that will run from 2020 to 2023. It aims to provide ACF's teams with better support in the area of program data management (or Information Management).
Read more »The "Strengthening CSOs' Information Management" project aims to professionalize French-speaking Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the use and implementation of methods, tools and processes related to the different stages of the data analysis chain.
Co-financed by AFD for 3 years (early 2020 - late 2022) and implemented with the support of 10 partners, this project will make it possible for CartONG to continue its work in support of the sector by promoting the pooling and dissemination of new resources, both practical (tools, tutorials, training modules, etc.) and strategic (studies, etc.) to all humanitarian and development actors.
Read more »In 2021, as part of the ongoing MoU, CartONG extended its support to ACF. CartONG analysed the sand winds that hit Madagascar lately with a much higher impact, supported the emergency desk of ACF to build a ligthweight IM system to provide a quick and generic picture of a state of an emergency, allowing ACF to make informed decision spededily about planning a responde. As part of the projet "Strengthening CSOs' Information Management" project co-funded by AFD, CartONG has been supported by ACF in the development of a data analysis and the Excel toolkit to be published on the Learning Corner.
Read more »Towards the end of the first lockdown period in France, Action Contre la Faim, Solinum and several volunteers of CartONG collaborated to map the services available in Bordeaux to precarious and/or isolated people so as to facilitate their access to the said information.
These maps, covering three distinct areas of Bordeaux (East Bordeaux, Lake Bordeaux and West Bordeaux) were developed by 4 CartONG4S volunteers using data collected by Solinum on the Soliguide platform. Updated three times, they were distributed by Action Contre la Faim and Restos du Cœur's teams during their outreach activities.
Read more »CartONG provided various Information Management support to Action Contre la Faim France in 2018. Our main support was dedicated to their Afghanistan mission where we deployed an expert for 3 weeks in October. The mission aimed at providing Information Management support to the team based in Kabul regarding digitization of some nutrition processes, data visualization with Business Intelligence tools, training sessions on various tools (Excel, Kobo, Sphinx and Power BI) and support on their data protection practices. Check out an example of the tools developed during the mission: a complaints and feedback mechanism dashboard built on Power BI.
In 2018, we also provided remote support to ACF France on Mobile data collection for their Nepal field operation, as well as gave a day of introduction to Geographical Information Systems during one of their regional training workshops in Dakar.
This project helped ACF-US and governmental partners to set up and maintain over time the Water Information Management System of South Sudan. The solution chosen to ensure than field teams could update the information on a regular basis was Akvo Flow.
At the end of the project, an Aweil East State Water Points Functionality Map was also published.
