Founded in 2006, CartONG is an association of the "H2H" type (Humanitarian to Humanitarian, i.e. an NGO working in support of other NGOs) specialized in mapping and information management support for humanitarian and development organizations. Our core expertise is geographic information, but we have extended it other the years to other technologies (mobile data collection, information management, remote sensing, responsible data, participatory mapping, Open Data, etc.).
Our activities consist of supporting NGOs and international humanitarian organizations by providing them with tools, services and training that enable them to better plan, implement and evaluate their programs; in other words, to improve the impact of humanitarian aid on vulnerable populations. We are particularly interested in training national teams in the field and working with local communities to implement projects that are sustainable and truly meet the needs and priorities of the individuals and communities we support.

Our headquarters are based in Chambéry, France - a short train ride away from Geneva and Lyon and their international airports. Chambéry is a vibrant student and family city with many great bars and restaurants, located in the heart of the French Alps and surrounded by the Bauges and Chartreuse mountains.
We are currently seeking for an Senior Full-Stack - Web Developer to join our team.
Type of contract: Fixed term contract (CDD) of 12 months.
Contract start date: As soon as possible.
Location: at the association's headquarters in Chambéry with up to 3 days of remote working possible per week or as a remote position based in France.
Salary: based on salary scale and experience (https://cartong.org/cartong-salary-policy), 39 hour/week contract (35 hrs + 4 hours paid overtime/week)

You will be sitting with the web development pole working for a variety of humanitarian projects and partners.
You will play a key role within the web development projects in CartONG, assisting with choices of technologies, project planning and deliverables. Being part of the web-development pole in CartONG will require you to be proactive in supporting the pole development, organizing internal or external training, and experience sharing sessions in collaboration with the other web developers. Organization’s adaptability, agility, and ability to manage constant change through innovation can be keys to success. You will support and make the process more efficient and effectively. You will also mentor and advise younger members of the pole on processes and technologies.
In this context, your assignments are:
Degrees: Engineer Master’s Degree or equivalent in computer science
Professional experience: 7 years or more in the development and implementation of web development applications
- Expertise in Php, with the Symfony framework or equivalent
- Basic knowledge in Python
- Good knowledge in HTML5/CSS3/LESS
- Testing experience (TDD, Unit testing...) would be appreciate
- Good knowledge in PostgresMysql or equivalent (Optimisation)
- Knowledge in MySQLPostgres
- Background in GNU/Linux server administration
- Knowledge of Apache or equivalent
- Knowledge in Docker would be very appreciate
- Knowledge of GitLab CI/CD would be appreciate
