In the framework of the project « Building a Data Collaborative to support SDGs on Health » in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, CartONG and the Netherland Red Cross will host a workshop on January 31st-February 1st in Kinshasa to foster data sharing on the topic of health.

The GPSDD funded project “Building a Data Collaborative” sets out to do so in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Malawi and seeks to enable better targeted action towards reaching the health and WASH SDG targets.

This project will create a Data Collaborative, a semi-formal, long term collaboration, that brings volunteer & technical communities (VTCs) and in particular OpenStreetMap communities, humanitarian and development organizations together with National Statistics Offices, businesses, and other civil society organizations.

CartONG published on behalf of the Agence Micro Projets (French microfunding agency) a study on the use of ICTs by small aid organisations as well as a toolbox to help them along in their use of ICTs.

CartONG has carried out a project for Terre des hommes to help them answer their questions on case management digital tools, through the evaluation of needs, technical benchmarking of tools and associated strategical help, the public findings of which were compiled in an infography.

CartONG supported the Cash Consortium Irak (CCI) in improving and streamlining its data collection, management and visualisation systems. CartONG evaluated each partner's needs, helped to choose the most relevant tool to be used by all partners and accompanied the consortium to adopt the tool (SurveyCTO was the chosen tool).

From installing and maintaining their ArcGIS servers to supporting modifications to database structure and enriching the database with new layers and linking to external databases, CartONG supports UNHCR in structuring their GIS web-services - in particular their Field Information Coordination and Support Section (FICSS) now called Global Data Service (GDS). CartONG also participates to the discussions in how GIS should evolve in UNHCR in the future.

CartONG also supports CCCM within GDS, and also work on benchmarking studies, documentations and training materials.

Our staff worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Uganda, doing creation and maintenance of return monitoring database, collection and compilation of GPS coordinates, production of maps, and capacity building of local staff.
